Step 1: Go to https://wallet.roninchain.com and download the Ronin Wallet for your browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox).
Step 2: Install the Ronin Wallet on your device by following the on-screen instructions from the web store.
Step 3: Once installed, open the Ronin Wallet browser extension and click "Get Started".
Step 4: A new page will open where you will have two options:
- Select "I'm new. Let's get set up!" if you would like to create a new Ronin wallet.
- If you have an existing Ronin wallet and you would like to restore it, select "I already have a wallet. Import now!" and you'll be presented with options to restore your wallet.
Step 5: You will be asked if you would like your data to be tracked and used to provide a better Ronin Wallet experience. Based on your preferences, you may choose either "Allow tracking" or "Don't allow".
Creating a New Wallet with Secret Recovery Phrase
Step 1: Choose Create with Secret Recovery Phrase on the wallet creation screen.
Step 2: Enter a password that will be used to unlock the Ronin Wallet extension every time you close your browser to secure your wallet.
Step 3: You will then proceed to the Secret Recovery Phrase screen.
⚠ IMPORTANT NOTE: The secret recovery phrase is used to recover the wallet and grants full access to the assets inside the wallet. Make sure to store the recovery phrase in a safe place and never share it with anyone. The recovery phrase is essential for recovering your wallet if you lose access to it or if your device is damaged. You can also follow the tip on how to keep your account secure.
Step 4: Click "Reveal Seed Phrase" and save/write down the 12 words in the order that they are shown. Click "Confirm Seed Phrase" to proceed.
Step 5: To verify that you have saved/written down your secret recovery phrase correctly, you will be asked to confirm some of the words in the secret recovery phrase. Enter the corresponding word in the order number specified to proceed to the next step.
Step 6: You will then see a message indicating that you have successfully created your new Ronin wallet.
Creating a New Wallet via Email or Social Account
This feature is powered by Web3Auth.
⚠ IMPORTANT NOTE: This option will allow you to create only one Ronin wallet and you will not be able to create additional sub-wallets. If you wish to access multiple wallets within the same Ronin wallet app, please sign up using the seed phrase option.
Step 1: On the wallet creation screen, decide whether you’d like to use your email address or a social account and then select your preferred method.
- Email Address
- Click "Create using your email". This will direct you to a page where you will have to enter your email and verify the ownership of the email address you provided.
- Social Account [Apple, Google and Facebook]
- Click the preferred social account you want to use for your Ronin wallet. You'll then be directed to sign into your social account to verify your ownership of that account.
Step 2: You will then be asked to allow Ronin Wallet to receive your profile. Click "Allow".
Step 3: You will be asked to create a Recovery Password for your wallet. This is the password that you will need in order to recover your wallet in case you need to reset the wallet or you lose your device.
For your wallet's security, there are requirements for the password that you need to fulfill in order to proceed. You'll then need to tick the checkbox to confirm that you understand that this password cannot be recovered by Sky Mavis. After ticking the checkbox, click "Continue".
⚠ IMPORTANT NOTE: If you forget your Recovery Password and you lose access to your wallet, Sky Mavis cannot recover the Recovery Password for you and you will not be able to recover your wallet and the assets inside.
Step 4: Create a password you'll use to unlock the wallet on your device. This password is only specific to the device, and is only used to secure the wallet from unauthorized used on the device. After entering the password, click Finish.
Step 5: You'll then get a confirmation message that you have successfully created your wallet.
Forgot Your Recovery Password?
• If you've lost your device, forgotten your PIN, or accidentally reset your device/Ronin wallet, you'll need your Recovery Password to recover your wallet.
• If you forgot your Recovery Password, there is no way to recover your assets. Sky Mavis will not be able to recover your Recovery Password for you.
• If you would like to create a new wallet again using the email/social account feature, you will need to use a new email address or social account, as you will not be able to use the email address or social account associated with the wallet you've lost access to.
You can access your Recovery Kit by going to Settings > Recovery Kit.
The Recovery Kit is split into three shares: Email or Social Account, Recovery Password, and Device. You will need 2 out of 3 to recover/set up your wallet on another device.
Check the Recovery Password
If you forgot your Recovery Password but you still have a device with the wallet active, simply select "Recovery Password" in the Recovery Kit menu and enter your wallet password. You'll then be able to reveal and view your Recovery Password.
You can also change your Recovery Password on this page by clicking "Change Recovery Password". You will be required to enter your current password, as well as your new password.
Getting the Private Key
⚠ IMPORTANT NOTE: Your Private Key is what allows you to access your wallet. Once revealed, it can be used to access your wallet without needing your social account login, Recovery Password, or any other part of the Recovery Kit.
If you would like to get the Private Key for your wallet, you may do so on the Recovery Kit page. You may follow the guide below to obtain your Private Key.
Step 1: Enable "Advanced Recovery Method" under the "Advanced" section. Click on "Private Key".
Step 2: You will be presented with security reminders, and will be asked to enter your wallet password.
Step 3: You will then be directed to a page where you can reveal your wallet's Private Key.
You can use your Private Key to recover your wallet without needing to use the social account or email feature. This means that you can use the Private Key to add the wallet to an existing wallet setup, although this is only for that instance of the wallet. This does not add this wallet to the accounts under the seed phrase; you will always need this Private Key to access the wallet.
Where is the Seed Phrase?
The Ronin wallet utilizes Web3Auth-powered threshold key management technology, which eliminates the need for generating and storing a seed phrase. As a result, you can enjoy a web2-like user experience.
Setting Up on New Devices
If you import your Ronin wallet on another device, you will need to log into your social account or verify your email address, and provide your Recovery Password.
Keeping Your Wallet Secure
The Recovery Password acts as part of the private key access to your Ronin Wallet. If you think that your Recovery password may be compromised, you can change it via the "Recovery Kit" menu.
Your social accounts, such as the login details and access to your Gmail account, also acts as a part of the key to your wallet. Please do not share it with anyone, as anyone with access to it only needs one other share to access your wallet. If you think your social account is compromised, please immediately change the password of that account or contact the account service's support team for further assistance in securing your account. We recommend that you set up 2FA and other security features on your social accounts as well to further protect this share of your key.
⚠ IMPORTANT REMINDER: The social account feature does not make your Ronin wallet a custodial wallet. You will be responsible for ensuring that you do not forget your Recovery Password. DO NOT share it with anyone!
Importing Your Wallet Using Secret Recovery Phrase
⚠ NOTE: If you have an existing Ethereum wallet [on MetaMask or other wallet apps], you may use the same secret recovery phrase/seed phrase to get the same wallet address in your Ronin wallet but with the ronin: prefix instead of 0x.
Step 1: On the Ronin Wallet setup screen, click "I already have a secret recovery phrase. Import wallet."
You will also be asked if you would like your data to be tracked and used to provide a better Ronin Wallet experience. Based on your preferences, you may choose either "Allow tracking" or "Don't allow".
Step 2: Enter the secret recovery phrase of the Ronin wallet you would like to recover, then create a strong and unique password for the wallet and click "Import Wallet".
You will then receive a message that you have successfully imported your wallet.
Importing Your Wallet Using Private Key
You also have the option to import a single wallet using a private key instead of a secret recovery phrase. This will only provide you access to the wallet the private key is linked to, and will not allow you to access any of the other accounts.
To import a private key, you will also need to complete the setup to create/recover a Ronin wallet first. However, this will not add the wallet imported using private key to the main wallet's secret recovery phrase. It will only allow you to access the wallet imported using the private key in addition to your main wallet.
If you lose your wallet or your device, in order to recover this wallet, you will always need the separate private key for this wallet.
Getting the Private Key
In order to get the private key for a specific wallet account, follow these steps:
Step 1: Unlock your Ronin wallet and click the profile icon.
Step 2: Click "Manage".
Step 3: Select the account and "View Private Key".
Step 4: Enter your wallet password, and then you will be able to view the private key for that wallet account.
⚠ IMPORTANT NOTE: This private key will grant access to all assets in that wallet account. Please make sure you keep this safe and to never share it with anyone. You can also check this article to learn how to keep your account secure.
