Overview
Metadata in NFTs contains essential information such as attributes (also known as traits), images, and ownership details. When changes occur, these updates may not appear immediately on marketplaces or platforms. Refreshing metadata ensures that the displayed information is up-to-date, reflecting the latest modifications.
Why Refresh Metadata?
Common Scenarios
Metadata updates are necessary in various cases. For example:
- RNS Renewal: If a user's RNS expires but gets renewed, the update may not reflect immediately. In such cases, refreshing metadata ensures that the RNS renewal appears correctly in the marketplace. Users might not be aware of this option and could face confusion if the metadata is outdated.
- Unrevealed NFTs: When purchasing an NFT labeled as "unrevealed," it's recommended to refresh metadata to ensure it has the latest attributes before completing the transaction.
- Recent Changes Not Appearing: If an NFT's traits, images, or descriptions were modified, refreshing metadata updates the displayed information.
How to Refresh Metadata
Steps
- Go to Ronin Market, then click on “Log in” in the top right corner to connect with your Ronin Wallet.
- Click on your username and go to “My Profile”.
- Use the side panel to find the NFT collection and click on the specific NFT that you want to refresh.
- Locate the “Refresh Metadata” button, and click on it. A prompt will appear stating: "We've queued this item for an update! Please check back later.".
- After some time, refresh the site to see the metadata updated.
The update process depends on the number of NFTs in the queue, and it may take time to reflect the changes.
Note: If you want to refresh the metadata of an NFT that does not belong to you, then instead of going to “My Profile” in step 2, you need to use the search bar with the name of the collection. After that, search for the NFT and continue from step 4.
Be Aware That
- Metadata is not automatically refreshed and must be manually updated by the user.
- It is advised to have Metadata refreshed before purchasing an NFT to avoid outdated or incorrect information.
- Anyone can refresh metadata for any NFT, even if they are not the owner.
- Refreshing does not alter the NFT itself, but ensures the latest data is displayed.
