How to Edit Gas Fee in Transactions

If you wish to accelerate the processing of your transactions in the Ronin chain, you have the free option to increase your transactions' gas fees. Before attempting to proceed and modify, let's define a few things to start.

  • Gas Fee
Gas fees are payments made by users to compensate the node validators for the computing energy required to process and validate transactions in the Ronin blockchain.

  • Gas Price
Gas price is the amount of RON you're willing to pay for each unit of gas.
    1 GWEI = 0.000000001 RON

  • Gas Limit (Cannot be changed)
Gas limit is the maximum units of gas you're willing to spend.

  • Nonce
[Advance] This is a transaction number of an address. Each address's nonce begins with 0 for the first transaction and continues in sequential order.

Editing the Gas Fee of Your Transaction

When you are about to finalize a transaction, you will see a Preview Transaction page where it shows the active From address, the To/Contract address, the Network, and the Gas fee & Speed options for your transaction. To edit the Gas fee and Speed, let's follow the steps below:

Step 1. Click on the Edit button below the Speed option to open the Gas fee options.

Step 2. You may select preset speed options Normal or Fast to which each has their corresponding gas prices and limits.

  • Normal | Gas Price 20 GWEI, Gas Limit 24150 GWEI
  • Fast | Gas Price 30 GWEI, Gas Limit 24150 GWEI

Step 2.5 (Custom) You may also set your own Custom price and limit where you will have the option to adjust the gas price (GWEI) and view the estimated transaction fee. After making any desired modifications, you can confirm the transaction by clicking Done.

As shown in the images, drastic changes in the gas prices could lead to issues. Too low of a gas price could lead to transaction drops and fails; too high of a gas price could lead to unwanted excess fees.

Step 3.  After adjusting the gas price and clicking on Done, verify a last time that the transaction fee has been updated accordingly, as this indicates that the modification was successful. Once confirmed, you may now finalize your transaction.
